Carson City Christmas tree recycling next week

Christmas tree recycling in Carson City starts Jan. 4 by placing trees curbside on your regular trash collection day.

The program is in cooperation with Capital Sanitation and Waste Management Inc.

Curbside collection will take place from Jan. 4-Jan. 8. Trees need to be cut into sections no longer than 3-feet.

Drop off locations also can be found, during the same time period, in the JC Penney parking lot; the Carson City corporate yard on Butti Way, just west of Carson City Public Works on Airport Road; and the Carson City Landfill.

After Jan. 8 trees can be taken to the Carson City landfill for recycling.

Remove all decorations, lights, tinsel and bases from the trees before recycling.

For more information, call Carson City Environmental Control Authority at 887-2355, ext. 7390, 7380 or 7376.
