Due to the temperature being posted in the Nevada Appeal Wednesday to be an overnight low of 15 degrees, the Emergency Warming Shelter will be opening for the next five nights — tonight through Jan. 3.
Tonight, the shelter will be open from 7:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. Those who need a ride can meet at FISH at 7 p.m. and the FISH shuttle will transport them to Fuji Park. They will then need to be transported back to FISH at 7 a.m.
For Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the shelter will be open from 6:30 p.m. to 7 a.m.
If people need a ride on those days they can meet at FISH a 6 p.m. each night, and the FISH shuttle will transport them to Fuji Park. People will then be transported back to FISH at 7 a.m. the next morning.
People who are intoxicated, but don’t have any alcohol or drugs in their possession, those who have pets under their supervision, those who have no shelter available to them and who are not a danger to themselves or others will be accepted. People can come into the shelter at any time during the night, but can’t leave and then re-enter the shelter. Volunteers will be supervising the shelter.
