The Sierra In-Line hockey squad sent two teams to a recent tournament in Elko and came away with a first and second place.
The 14U team won its division after placing second in pool play, winning 8-1 and 10-2, and losing 4-3 and 3-2. The squad beat Elko’s house team 8-1 in the semifinals and then beat Elko’s travel team, 6-3, in the finals. Nolan Olson led the team in scoring.
The high school squad placed third in its pool. On Sunday, the locals knocked off Pocatello in the semifinals and then lost to Bishop.
Dayton accepting memberships
The Dayton Valley Palmer Club is open to public membership and now accepting applications for the 2015 season. Any male golfer age 18 or older can join by paying annual dues of $250.
Dues for members who have a 2015 GHIN handicap with another golf club are $220.
The full dues fee includes Northern Nevada Golf Association (NNGA) membership with GHIN number and handicap and entry into 10 tournaments. Tournaments include a Skins Game, Club Championship and two-day Member-Member tournament with four 9-hole formats. Also on the schedule are the 24th annual Member-Guest Invitational and annual Match Play Championship that require additional entry fees.
Palmer Club members also receive a discounted green fee on tournament days and are eligible to play in weekly Palmer Men’s Club events on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday with reserved tee times.
An associate membership is also available for players unable to play the full schedule of tournaments. For $130, an associate membership includes NNGA membership/GHIN number and handicap and entry into two tournaments. Other details apply and are included in the membership prospectus.
The season begins on Saturday, March 14 with a 4-Man Green Ball/Scramble tournament.

Empire looking for members
Empire Ranch Senior Men’s golf group is accepting new members.
Applications can be picked up at the pro shop. You must be $55 to join. The club plays 34 weekly tournaments, nine of which are played at other area courses. All tournaments are flighted. The club dues are $50 which includes NNGA membership. For more information, call 775-885-2100.

The Reno Aces are accepting applications for multiple part-time positions for the coming season.
Jobs openings are for custodial, guest services, game day security, dance team, ticket office and grounds crew.
