Carson High’s girls and boys basketball teams are home tonight for critical Sierra League games against the Galena Grizzlies starting at 5:15 and 7 p.m., respectively.
Carson’s boys, 11-2 and riding a 9-game winning streak, are looking to sweep the season series against the Grizzlies. Carson rolled to a 63-51 road win back on Jan. 20.
Carson leads the Grizzlies, 10-3, by a full game and Bishop Manogue, 9-3, by 1.5 games. The Miners have a make-up game Saturday against Reed.
The Senators are looking to rebound from their worst game of the season, a 31-26 win at Wooster. Carson played without senior point guard Kyle Steele and got zero points from senior forward Cameron Price. Both need to step up in tonight’s game.
The Carson girls, 7-6 in league play, have a two-game lead over both Damonte and Galena with three games left in the regular season.
Carson swept the season series against Damonte, thus holds the tiebreaker in event of a tie. Carson lost the first time around against the Grizzlies, and can ill afford to get swept with games at Manogue and home against Douglas next week. The Senators aren’t expected to win either of those games. A win tonight would wrap up third place for the Senators.
