About half as many Carson City gasoline stations as a week ago posted prices for regular gas of under $2 per gallon Monday, a price-monitoring website reported late in the morning.
A week ago, 15 stations in the capital city were under that amount but only seven were pegged there Monday. The 7-Eleven station and mini-mart at 3701 N. Carson St. led the pack with GasBuddy.com listing the price there as $1.93, or six cents lower than the other half dozen stations still below $2.
Those at $1.99 were: Arco, 4190 S. Carson St.; Smith’s, 505 E. William St.; Golden Gate, 2651 U.S. Hwy. 50 E; Arco, 2707 U.S. Highway 50 E; Costco, 700 Old Clear Creek Road, and Arco, 4340 N. Carson St. A week ago, four stations were charging just $1.93 a gallon.
It’s part of an upward trend in gasoline prices that included a rise across Nevada of 10.8 cents per gallon in the preceding week. Statewide, a GasBuddy survey of 1,130 stations showed the retail price of regular through Sunday was $2.31 a gallon. Carson City’s stations regularly are below the statewide average.
In the same week, measured from Sunday to Sunday, GasBuddy reported that the national average increased 12.6 cents per gallon to $2.17 a gallon.
“While the pace of increases will slow in the week ahead,” said GasBuddy.com analyst Dennis DeHaan, “we’re looking at continued gas price increases over the next few weeks.”
