Those traveling in the downtown area and around the Carson City Community Center will need to be aware of upcoming closures and construction.
Parts of Carson Street will be closed to traffic downtown Sunday and the following Sunday, Feb. 22 for a preliminary design assessment leading into the makeover project in the core of Carson City. On the next two Sundays, parts of Carson Street will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Carson Street from William Street to Musser Street will be closed Sunday. Carson Street from Robinson Street to 5th Street will be closed Sunday, Feb. 22.
Also due to the design assessment, Curry Street from Robinson to Musser streets and West 3rd Street from Carson to Curry will be closed for the same reason from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
When the streets are closed, detours will be marked with signs.
With regard to the community center, its parking lot will be a part of an extended phase of construction due to the East West Water Line project beginning on Monday. Throughout the development phases of the project, certain sections of the parking lot will be unavailable for use. This also means there will be periods of time when through traffic traveling from Highway 50 to Roop Street and vice versa will be severely limited or not available at all.
