Minden businessman Jeff Mulvihill, Jr., owner of Instaimage in Minden and Doc Wenzel’s Old Time Photo Studio in Monterey, Calif., has been honored with the Antique & Amusement Photographers International Service Award. Mulvihill has owned Instaimage since 2004 and moved Doc Wenzel’s from South Lake Tahoe to Monterey in 2007.

“It’s nice to be recognized,” Mulvihill said. “It’s a group of my peers from all over the world that get together for these functions annually and it’s always nice to be recognized.”

The AAPI Service Award is presented annually to a member that has gone above and beyond to help the association. Mulvihill has been a member of AAPI since 2004, and in that time has served on a number of committees and the Board of Directors.

Operating two businesses, 300 miles apart, has presented challenges for Mulvihill.

“It can be tricky,” he said. “I live here in town and sometimes I have found myself in a motel room in Monterey at two in the morning finishing work that needs to be done for customers up here.”

AAPI is a professional association for photographers and vendors specializing in souvenir photography including antique or “Old Time Photos,” special events, historical re-enactments, and amusement portraits. Members hail from the United States, Canada, Australia and several other countries.
