The failure to reconsider the vote repealing the act licensing gaming that passed the Senate yesterday is to be regretted. To repeal the present law is simply to throw away a large revenue from people that if they didn’t pay this tax, would pay no tax at all.

Dust to dust (continued from Tuesday). The headboards, such as had escaped the ravages of the weather and natural decay, where brought from Fort Churchill. They were plain pine boards, about two inches thick. As far as any possibility of identifying the remains (except for McDermett), there appears to be none. (Continued on Thursday).

Divorce bill not yet signed. Gov. Boyle announced that he has not yet signed the new divorce measure and would probably take two or three days to consider its different phases. The five day limit the governor is given to sign or reject the bill does not expire until Wednesday.

Funeral services for Mrs. Josephine Fulstone who passed away in a Reno hospital Monday were held today, massed with flowers. Mrs. Norman Brown and Mrs. C.B. Austin sang “Love Wilt Not Let Me Go; and “Under His Wings.”

60 Years ago

The Atomic Energy Commission celebrated Washington’s birthday today by exploding a “whispering” atomic device that produced a 800-mile flash of light but surprisingly little noise. The early morning blast on Yucca Flat could be seen as far away as San Francisco and Los Angeles.
