Susanne Beres passed away Thursday, February 5, following complications from cancer. She left this world peacefully with her family at her side. Susanne was born in Jamestown, North Dakota to Melvin and Elaine Sorem. The family moved to Anaheim, California when Susanne was six, and it was there that she fell in love with the ocean and her passion for the outdoors. Along her adventures after high school, Susanne met the love of her life, Dave, in Aspen, Colorado, and they finally settled in Genoa, Nevada and married in 1977. They completed their family with the birth of their sons Zac and Nic, of whom she was extremely proud. For the past 25 years, Susanne worked at what she said was the “best job ever,” at Jack’s Valley and Pinion Hills Elementary Schools. Overlooking the Sierras from her “office” on the playground, she positively impacted hundreds of children’s lives while finding time to laugh all day in the company of her best friends. Her eternal optimism and enthusiasm for life will be cherished memories for all who knew her. Along with her husband Dave and sons, she leaves behind her sisters Julie and Pam and her brother Gene. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Beres Family residence in Genoa at noon on Sunday, March 1, 2015. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a favorite local charity.
