Druids ball. The Appeal office acknowledges the receipt of a complimentary ticket to the First Grand Ball to be given by the Ancient Order of Druids in Virginia City. Tickets are $3.
New Post Office has floated from its moorings in the Rinckel block and anchored for the time being in Sweeny’s building on King Street. It is the most commodious one we have ever had. When will the government do itself the justice to build an adequate pubic building here?

On the occasion of the opening of Player’s New Opera House John Piper will give a Magnificent Ball, and propose to make this entertainment one of the completest ever given in Virginia [City]. Tickets $2.”

Poisoning. Mrs. Jane Stanford has been poisoned in Honolulu. She was the founder of Stanford University, and a women who gave millions and the best part of her life to education.

First Aid Wagon. The wagon will be one of the pieces to answer alarms of fire received by the Warren Engine Company. Norman C. Brown, Fred Berning and Louis Nelson have been appointed member of the committee to organize the first aid crew. The First Aid Wagon will go to all fires where an alarm has been sounded and will respond to requests for ambulance service for patients.

Millennium cash. Carson High School’s senior class will qualify for $10,000 if they maintain current grades. Of 448 Carson High seniors, 240 would qualify for the scholarships. In order to qualify, students must maintain a B average, pass proficiency exams and have been a Nevada resident for two years.
