John Carl Erskine, age 65, passed away peacefully at the Palo Alto VA Hospital on the evening of January 5, 2015 after a 2.5 month battle with a rare and aggressive cancer. His wife Judy and twin sister Cora were by his side and he was surrounded in a circle of love.

Venus Clara (Gilcher) Taylor died peacefully on January 10, 2015 in Gardnerville, Nevada. She was born on February 1, 1920 on the family farm in Vergas, Minnesota to Charles and Klara (Nachtigall) Gilcher. She spent her childhood in North Dakota and Minnesota.

Jean Marshall passed away January 10, 2015 at the age of 69 surrounded by her family in Carson City, NV. Jean was born in Victoria, B.C. Canada on Nov. 6, 1945 to parents Eve and George Garber. She attended school in Victoria until she was 11 and then the family relocated to Sumas, Washington where she attended school until her High School graduation in 1963.

Marvin H. Dennis

Marvin H. Dennis, age 71, of Carson City, NV, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014, at Agrace Hospice in Janesville. He has been serving as a pastor for 46 years, as well as an evangelist, teacher and school administrator. He served as the pastor of Good Shepherd Wesleyan Church here in Carson City from 1987-2012 where he retired after serving for 26 years.

Abbie Louise (Hathcock) Campbell, of Carson City, passed peacefully and surrounded in love on January 13, 2015 at the age of 92. She was born in Wenatchee, WA on 10/2/22 to Thomas “Red” and Pearl Hathcock and was raised in Texas.

William H. Thomas, DDS died at age 95. He was born in Rexburg, Idaho to W. Henry Thomas and Mary Jeppson Thomas. He graduated from Ogden HS, Weber JC and attended University of Utah before joining the US Air Force, graduating OCS, and serving as a Weather Officer in WW II.

Wesley Barber died January 7, 2015. Wes was born on July 22, 1940, to Amy Barber and Mamo Snooks, in Woodfords, California. He was raised and grew up in Woodfords, lovingly cared for by his grandfather and grandmother, Tom and Nettie Barber, while his mother worked in Los Angeles and in Genoa. Wes loved hunting and fishing and was raised as a speaker of the Washo language. His knowledge of traditional places and the customs, history, and stories was considerable.

Longtime, former Nevada educator, Herb Steffens, passed away on January 4, 2015, at home in St. Helena, California. Herb was born on November 11, 1929, in Pocatello, Idaho, to parents Herbert and Botilla Steffens. He attended schools in Pocatello and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1947. From 1948 to 1951 he pursued higher education at Idaho State College and the University of Utah. Following graduation he served with the U.S. Army and was stationed in Berlin.

She is survived by three sons, Victor “Mike” Hall and James Hall of Carson City and Douglas “DJ” Hall of Sacramento, California, brother Dennis Wimple and sister Judith Hayes as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
