Gregg Kispert

Gregg Kispert 75 went home to be with Jesus Christmas morning after a brief illness. He is the beloved husband of Leslie (Sunny) Kispert, and cherished father of Merinda Joy (Rindy) Kispert Kacsmaryk, grandfather of Brandon Gregg Kacsmaryk and Ashton Joy Kacsmaryk, step-father of Scott Gavin and Michele Gavin and their spouses and children, a beloved big brother to Nancy Kispert Derloshon, and an awesome uncle to Gordon Gregg Osborne. Gregg Kispert was born in Fallon, Nevada on February 19, 1939 to Merium Elaine Jensen Kispert and Harold (Hal) Gregg Kispert. He and his parents lived on his grandparents’ dairy ranch there for the first seven or eight years. Following his father’s retirement from the Marine Corp they moved to Carson City. Gregg was active in school sports, boy scouts, etc.; and by the time he was in high school he was a formidable member of the “Carson Senators” football team. During his early teenage years, he was a true hero to a family in Carson City when their house had caught fire; he later received a commendation from the city. Gregg attended college(s) at UNR and Sierraville, California. During summer breaks he worked at the Nevada Highway Department. He liked working there so much that he stayed there until his retirement as head of the Nevada Department of Transportation, Reproduction Division. Also, towards the end of his college time, he joined the National Guard and was a National Guard Reservist for a few years afterward. He was a member of the Carson City Sheriff’s department as a reserve officer for more than 20 years; serving a few terms as Captain of the Police Reserves. He was involved in the development of the first SWAT team for The Carson City Sheriff’s Department. He was always up to date with the latest classes of first aid, etc. so as to be of assistance in any emergencies. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, going on many annual deer hunting trips with his father, and good friends, Bill Cocking, Chris Cocking, Frank Cocking and others. He was one who loved his long time friends; Ted Berrum, Les Armstrong, Bernard Sease, Dick Cassias, Dick Imus and Harvey Millard, Phyllis Hanmer, Keven and Ramona Baxter, Randy Yeary and others he was friends with and worked with over the years. He was an avid sports fan and loved the 49ers Football team. His Grandson Brandon loves his memories of playing basketball with him and his Granddaughter Ashton remembers going to McDonald’s with Papa Gregg and letting her hold the steering wheel when she was little and they both remember watching Disney movies with him and hearing Papa Gregg’s big laugh. He will be so missed, always remembered and always a part of our lives. There will be no services at this time but a memorial is planned for spring.
