Carson High crowned five champions at Saturday’s Carson High JV Tournament at Morse Burley Gym.

Austin Rudy (120), Hector Perez (145), Jarod Butler (152), Jordan Aikins (160-170) and Sam Haight (195-220) all went 3-0 en route to first-place finishes.

Jake Roman (126), Jesse Case (152), Connor Chech (195-220), Alex Honeycutt (160-170) and John Rowe (138) all finished second. Ethan Lepire was third at 106.

Two of the weight classes were combined, and other weight classes wrestled a round-robin format because of a surprisingly low turnout.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Battle Mountains stuns Lions in OT

YERINGTON — Battle Mountain outscored Yerington 7-0 in overtime to grab a 55-48 Division III basketball win Saturday afternoon.

The game was tied at 48 after regulation. Breven Engelson scored six of BM’s seven overtime points en route to a 17-point effort, Blake Dariou led BM with 19 points.

Sam Hammond led Yerington with 13 points and 11 rebounds. However, he was just 3-for-12 from the foul line which was huge. As a team the Lions went 7-for-20.

Matt Brannan and Koby Foster each added 11 points for the Lions.

Muckers overpower Smith Valley

VIRGINIA CITY — Clint Hess scored 15, and Christian Lindsay and Christain Steele tallied 11 and 10, respectively, to lead Virginia City to an easy 61-15 win over Smith Valley in a Divison IV game Saturday night.

Virginia City is 4-0 in league play and 12-2 overall.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Hawthorne 37, Sierra Lutheran 32

The Serpents built a 10-point first-quarter lead and held on for a 37-32 win on Saturday.

Cali Benton and Amy Westre led the offense with 10 and eight points, respectively. Benton pulled down five rebounds and Westre had 12.
