Chinese murder in Reno. A little Chinese man who did killing here and was set at liberty was assassinated. A shot was fired through the window of Gue Ye’s place striking him in the neck and killing him instantly (Crescent).

A vigilant officer. Special Officer Furlong noticed some peculiar actions of Chinese men connected with Sweeney’s restaurant and hid himself in the buildings in the rear. He discovered that the Chinese were passing out boiled hams and roast chickens to their brothers on the outside. Furlong pounced upon the thieves and landed them in jail. This is the kind of a man to have, as that will have a good effect upon the thieves that infest the city.

Drowned in the river. The 5-year-old son of Lewis Nelson drowned in the Carson River at Cradlebaugh Bridge. He was fishing on the bank and answered a call from his mother. She called a short time afterwards and began to search for him. He fell into the river when trying to release a fish line that was caught on the bottom of the river ...

The U.S. Forest Services plans to limit permit climbing at East Shore’s Cave rock. It is an ancient volcanic rock formation that has come into controversy involving rock climbers who enjoy climbing routes and the Washoe Tribe who see the area as a powerful spiritual place.
