130 Years Ago

Genoa landslide. So tremendous was the force of the avalanche that a great body of earth and stones was tossed up against the mountainside above the Chinese quarters, fell back and crushed the building and the inmates. Eight bodies were taken from the ruins. Nine men were recovered with injuries and are all receiving attention from the Flume Company. They belonged to the Chinese Company, which built the two-story building in Chinatown.

120 Years Ago

All sorts. Typos made in the Appeal state that a man had internal “hammorage.” The offender was badly beaten about the head with a mallet and promises to do better.

110 Years Ago

Orphans Home completion. The lower floor consists of a dining room, a session room, a play room, large kitchen, closets, private dining rooms, reception rooms, parlors and pantries. Large porches are on the north and south sides. (Continued on Thursday).

Albertson’s Food and Drug Center will locate a third Carson City store on North Carson Street. The 63,000 square foot grocery store and six-pump gas station is proposed for the corner of College Parkway and North Carson Street.
