150 Years Ago

One of the Pioneer stages made the distance between Shingle Springs and Carson City on the Fourth with a load of eleven passengers, mails, express baggage in twelve hours and a half. When this time has been beaten, we shall be pleased to record it. (Virginia Union)

All sorts. The youngsters are still poking around in the ashes to find trinkets left by the fire. The fire need not be looked upon as a blow to Carson. New buildings will go up soon and the fire forgotten. Connelly the tailor will reopen in the Opera House block. Kitzmeyer is repairing the damage done by fire and resuming business.

110 Years Ago

Stallion. Hans Nelson was brought to Carson with a badly lacerated face. A stallion kept at Cradelbaugh Bridge attacked him and bit him in the face tearing it to the bone from the lip to the chin. Hans was about town last evening rather disfigured.

70 Years Ago

The Rambler by Wes Davis. If you are dissatisfied with Carson City as your home town, it would do a lot of good to take a trip to Los Angeles or other valley towns. There are no cigarettes and no butter. Meat is cut to the thickness of a garden spade and there is no service.
