Marjorie Ann Mullin Saarem of Carson City, Nevada, passed away peacefully, yet unexpectedly, on Friday, July 10, 2015, at the age of 80. Marge was born to Norman (Buck) Mullin and Helen Rose Lee on December 18, 1934, in Spalding, Nebraska. Marge and her 11 brothers and sisters were all raised in Albion, Nebraska. Marge graduated from Albion High School where she lettered for three years, was head cheerleader, and was crowned as Harvest of Harmony Queen. She graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a BS Degree in Education. She taught elementary school in Carson City for many years. She married Myrl John Saarem of Albion in 1953, and they moved to Southern California. They were blessed with six children and moved their family to Carson City, Nevada, in 1971. Their six children continue to live close to their Carson City home. Marge always made time for every member of her very large family. She was full of laughter and loved telling stories. Her planned family gatherings were plentiful and cherished. She will be missed at the Mullin Family Reunion later this month. Marge treasured her many long-time friends, including her teammates in bowling and bridge. She was also a dedicated supporter of the Carson area athletics programs. Marge is survived by her husband of nearly 62 years, Myrl Saarem, 11 brothers and sisters: Mike (Kay) Mullin, Dave (Joan) Mullin, Kay Mikwold, Hank (Nancy) Mullin, Bob (Donna) Mullin, Sally (Kevin) Gallagher, Francie Mullin, Debbie (Mike) Sullivan, Dennis (Ruth) Mullin, Norma (Butch) Kirkland, and Hilary (Tim) Christo; six children: Ingrid (Mark) Gilstrap, Sandra (Ron) Haslem, Ken Saarem, Laura (Alan) Carlson, Elaine (Craig) Manoukian and Dave (LeAnn) Saarem. She enjoyed her 21 grandchildren: Scott Foster, Craig Foster, Tim Foster, Margie Masters, Matthew McGill, Kevin McGill, Mike McGill, Whitney Saarem, Joe Saarem, Ken Foster, Hannah Carlson, Roger Carlson, Bryan Manoukian, Erin Maffey, Robin Hawkins, Ashley Saarem, Maddi Saarem, and Taylor Saarem, step-grandchildren, Jennifer Horan, Brian Haslem, and Megan Gatewood, and her 24 great-grandchildren, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Carson City, Nevada on Friday, July 17, 2015, at 1:00 pm, with a celebration immediately following at the Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Teresa of Avila Memorial Garden Fund, 3000 N. Lompa Lane, Carson City NV 89706.
