Virginia (City) items. Martin the Wizard has arrived from Salt Lake in a buggy. He traveled 12 days and averaged 55 miles per day. He won’t be giving an exhibition in Virginia. He left his hocus pocus arrangements at Salt Lake.

A profitable dog. A man residing on the line of a railroad taught his dog to bark at every passing train. The firemen watch for the barking dog and hurl pieces of coal at him. The result is that the owner has all the coal he requires for his own use free of cost — delivered at his door.

Electricity. The poles for taking electric and telephone wires to the Hot Springs are being placed. The old kerosene lamps that used to smoke up the plunge baths will be a thing of the past once the electricity is conducted.

Reporter to nation. Margaret Edmundson, 18, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Edmundson, starts her tour of the country as the Western State’s delegate. She will start at Houston, Texas, and go to Lubbock, El Paso, Midland, Amarillo and Fort Worth and plans to be invited to the LBJ ranch — sponsored by Conrad Hilton of the hotel chain.
