Gerald McCall was born in Oakland, Calif. He passed away peacefully at Carson Tahoe Medical Center in Carson City, Nevada after prolonged illnesses. His father, Joseph, and mother, Carrie, preceded
him in death. He is survived by a brother, Don, a wife of 61 years, Velma, of Carson City, daughter Judith and Karen, sons John & Robert, 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and many extended family members. Gerald was a proficient Trombone player and received a music scholarship to Pasadena College. During the Korean War, Gerald joined the Navy and was selected to attend the Naval School of Music in Wash. D.C. He performed with his Naval Band in the 1953 Inaugural Parade for the new 34th President of the United States of American, Dwight D. Eisenhower. He met Velma in Wash. D.C. and they married there in 1954. Gerald was an avid fisherman. He and his wife moved to Carson City where they enjoyed the mountains and he continued fishing. A celebration of his life was held in June with immediate family members at Adele’s, Carson City. No service at this time.
