Horse stealing. Dick Roberts explained how he and two other boys came to have Childs’ horses. They were sent to recover a colt belonging to Mrs. Ambrose and found him in a band of about twenty horses belonging to Childs. They split the band and took the smaller portion to Cook’s ranch. They lashed the colt and turned the others loose. The officers who investigated ascertained that there was no attempt at horse stealing.

110 Years Ago

Bowling alley. Josh Whitehead and Bud O’Neil purchased the Rickey saloon from Wm. Rickey. The saloon is fitted with the only bowling alley in this city. The game is a popular one, and there is every reason to believe they will make a big success of the venture.

100-year-old house to be torn down. The Carson City-Ormsby County Regional Planning Commission heard about plans for a three-story motel, housing more than a hundred units. Two buildings now on the property will be moved — the Capitol Rest Home and the old Morgan House property (corner of Fleischmann and Carson streets — more than a hundred years old).

Boston saloon. Excavation of an African-American saloon has unearthed artifacts believed lost when the building burned in 1876. Volunteers from the University of Nevada, Reno uncovered bottles, glasses and materials such as brick and flooring ...
