Nevada representatives have signed an agreement with their counterparts in Germany to launch an exchange program for interns focused on advanced manufacturing.
The agreement came during Gov. Brian Sandoval’s five-day swing through Germany that included stops in Berlin, Leipzig and Dresden.
He said Tesla’s decision to build a battery factory in Northern Nevada makes it especially important to develop a skilled workforce like Germany’s.
Sandoval visited car companies BMW, Daimler and Porsche, and took a test drive in an autonomous vehicle. He also discussed trade opportunities with high-ranking German officials, including the country’s Coordinator of Transatlantic Cooperation.
Sandoval is visiting five European countries during the three-week trip, including Ireland, England, Poland and Italy. He’s joined by several dozen representatives from Nevada’s tourism, business and education sectors.
