The Indian fight (continued form Wednesday). He estimates the Indian force at about 500. They are of the Shoshone, Paiute and Bannock tribes. The captain reports his command encamped at Paradise Valley and the wounded doing well. He repudiates the charge of cowardice against Lt. Littlefield. (Continued on Friday).

Murder in Antelope Valley. Wm. Barton was shot in the neck and killed by Andrew McGinley while engaged in a game of cards at Barnett’s hotel in Coleville last Friday night. McGinley escaped, while his partner, a third party, was placed under arrest. The shooter has but one eye and by all other particulars, can be easily recognized.

100 years ago

It is now possible for a passenger on a railroad train to sit through a moving picture show while traveling across country. The mechanism was exhibited in a buffet car of the Pennsylvania railroad.

More meat counters were bare during May than any time since March 1944, the Department of Labor announced today.

Drug dealers would be subject to civil penalties of up to $1 million under a bill approved Sunday in the Senate. Current law already allows authorities to go after the assets of drug dealers, but too often they are adept at covering up a paper trail.
