Horrible massacre of seven persons. By the southern mail stage on Wednesday evening, intelligence was brought to the city of the shocking massacre of a number of persons in Spanish Fort Kanyon by some Indians who, it would appear, have been long known as a desperate gang of robbers and murderers (continued on Friday).

The days of typesetting are over with F.W. Frost, the foreman of the Bodie Free Press. An accidental discharge of a shotgun carried away the second joint of his right thumb and lacerated his hand badly. He has the sympathy of many friends.

The dance committee of the Fourth of July celebration is getting very busy and within a short time will have a platform ready for a series of outdoor dances. It is the idea to have a series of these moonlight dances.

Relatives have been advised that Pfc. Francis X. Schulz, who was wounded on April 30 in Okinawa, has been awarded the Purple Heart.
