A day after saying on Twitter that he was headed to Florida, Carson City’s Adam Whitt has apparently signed with the Houston Astros.
The University of Nevada pitcher was drafted in the 16th round (469th overall) by the Houston Astros last week and reportedly signed Monday with the Astros KRNV reported.
Whitt did not comment about signing and the Astors didn’t release any information.
Whitt, who compiled a 2-2 record with a school-record 14 saves and a 2.82 ERA, will report to the Astros’ Short-Season A affiliate, the Tri-City (NY) Valley Cats, the Reno TV station reported.
“Everybody was saying between 10 and 15,” Whitt said last week. “The Astros called me during the 15th round and told me they were taking me in the next round if I was still around.”
“I was pretty much planning to go no matter what,” Whitt said last week. “I’ve talked to the Astros (about money) about graduate degree programs, but we’ll have to see about that when I go back there.”
