Return of Gov. Blasdel (continued from Wednesday). Something has to be done for these wretched creatures. A reservation system, wisely, honestly and property directed, would relieve their distresses and insure the settlers against annoyance. The governor speaks very favorably of the Reese River mines, and says that business is assuming a brisk and lively turn in and about Austin. Much Easter capital is finding its way to the Reese River ledges.

About 9:30 last evening, Johnny Davis shot Tom Kelly of Benton’s livery stable. The shooting took place near Sunderland’s livery stable. The shot took effect in Kelley’s forefinger. The authorities were hunting Davis at last accounts. The cause is unknown.

100 years ago

The program for commencement at Carson High School features the senior class play at the Grand Opera House “Noible all Smiles.” The baccalaureate sermon will be held at St. Peter’s church, with the Rev. Lloyd B. Thomas presiding to the 12 seniors at Carson High School.

70 years ago

The only winner of the permanent custody of an Honor Society pin at Carson High School is Miss Barbara Berning as the most outstanding student last week.
