To raise money for the annual Nevada Day Parade, the Nevada Day Inc. organization is putting on its first Battle Born 1864 Bikes, Brews and Bubbly event this weekend.

The event will shut down Carson Street between Robinson and Musser Friday and Saturday for vendors, bands and the Carson City Sheriff’s Department Motor Officer Extreme Training Challenge.

“It is our ‘fun’draiser to put on the Nevada Day parade,” said Nevada Day Inc. marketing director Dana Lee Fruend.

Carson City had an event similar to it in previous years with Downtown 2020, but the organization decided to rebrand and revamp the event. This year, multiple activities will be happening during the event, including a beer tasting Saturday night, the motors challenge, live music and various contests. The Brews, Bikes and Bubbly will have three contests: a tattoo and a pinup contest on Friday, and a mustache and First Draw contest on Saturday.

The event will also feature a special guest, said Fruend, actor Jack Waggon who is the new co-Grand Marshall. Waggon was cast in the TV show Big Sky and will have his producers and some cast members at Brews, Bikes, and Bubbly to do a meet and greet with the community. The Karson Kruzers will also have a night cruise through Carson City Saturday as a part of the event.

“The event supports Nevada Day and the downtown community,” Fruend said. “We are doing different things to bring back old events with a twist to grow Nevada Day.”

The event is free to attend, however vendors may charge for their products, and the beer tasting is $20 which is being put towards the fundraiser. For more information visit http://www.battleborn1864.com.
