Delbert passed away at home on March 21, 2015 in Fallon, NV. He was born at home to Thelma Rosaltha and Lloyd Wesley Sponsler Sr. Next to the youngest of four siblings. His mother was a homemaker; father was a Civil Engineer at Mare Island Shipyard in Vallejo, CA. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Virginia Ann; his parents and elder brother Lloyd Wesley Jr. and baby sister Irma Alice Sponsler. He is survived by elder sister Myrtle Inez Jones; daughters - Merry Lynne Jones and spouse Paul; Kathy Elizabeth Nevers of Fallon, NV; sons - Eric Neal Sponsler and spouse Barbara of Leola SD; Jeffrey David Sponsler and spouse Pamela of Chico, CA. Grandsons - Ryan Delbert Sponsler; Shannon Dean Chase; Christopher Wesley Jones; Kevin Dean, Pattrick Lynn, Adam Reid, Grady Allen, and Robert Britian McElhinney. Granddaughters - Shannen Elaine Garrison; Rebecca Ann and Amanda Beth Nevers; Meganne Kae and Catherine Jeanne McElhinney; Chrissi Lee Anne and Lauri Corine Sponsler; Carol Lynne Volz; June Ann Puga: Christina Mae Haskell. Calista Sponsler plus 30 other great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Delbert was the Milk and Dairy Health Inspector for Humboldt and Del Norte Counties of Northern California retiring after 37 years of service. Served in the United States Navy. Graduate of University of California at Davis. He was a member of the Humboldt Harmonaires S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. in Eureka, CA. Resided in Northern California until 2012 when he and his wife moved to Fallon NV to be close to their family. Memorial services to celebrate his life will be held: - Saturday March 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Oasis Community Church in Fallon, NV. - Saturday April 4, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Congregational Church in Eureka, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either the Churchill County Senior Center in Fallon, NV or to the Humboldt County Senior Center in Eureka, CA in his and his wife’s memory.
