Carson City ready for Easter with egg hunts and bunny visits

Easter Week is on its way, and with it is coming the Easter Bunny, who’s going to be leaving candy-filled eggs and other treats for area children. Check out the following events to join in on the springtime fun.

Meet the Easter Bunny

The Easter Bunny will be available for photos from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Carson Mall.

Carson City Kiwanis Easter egg hunt

Carson City Kiwanis’ 38th annual Easter egg hunt, which will offer more than 8,000 eggs and hundreds of prizes, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Centennial Park, 5400 Heritage Way, north of Eagle Valley Golf Course.

The event is free to all children, who are welcome to meet the Easter Bunny at the event.

4th annual Egg-stravaganza

The Easter Bunny and more than 16,000 candy-stuffed eggs will be on hand at the fourth annual Egg-stravaganza Saturday at Seeliger Elementary School, 2800 S. Saliman Road.

The hunt offers zones for age groups and grades and special needs children with staggered start times beginning at 10 a.m. Pictures with the Easter Bunny will also be available.

Admission is free, and parking is available off Baker Drive and Fremont Street. Attendees are asked to leave the unloading zones in front of the school free.

Lahontan State Recreation Area’s 20th annual Easter egg hunt

More than 200 children ages 12 and under will participate in Lahontan State Recreation Area’s 20th annual Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The event — offering a hunt for candy-filled Easter eggs and a raffle for items such as gift certificates, food vouchers, Easter baskets and toys — will be at Silver Springs Day Use Area. To get there, enter from the Silver Springs entrance off of Fir Street.

Admission will be free, and entry into the park will be waived for participants.

Easter egg hunt at Washoe Lake State Park

The South Valley Volunteer Fire Department is hosting an Easter egg hunt for children of all ages at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Washoe Lake State Park.

The Easter Bunny is set to arrive at noon. Food will be available for purchase. Easter festivities will run until 2 p.m. at the day use area lawn. To get there, turn left from the main entrance and go to the third parking area on the right.

Easter Fiesta at Western Nevada College

Easter egg hunts, games, face painting and coloring contests will be offered by Western Nevada College’s Latino Club at its annual Easter Fiesta celebration from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at WNC’s Carson City campus, 2201 W. College Parkway. The event offers photos with WNC’s Wildcat mascot, Willy. Game tickets cost $1 each, or $5 for six.
