A dead body was found by workmen today in clearing the shaft of the La Plata Oro mine in an old Spanish Claim near the American Flat grade near Gold Hill. It was covered in seven feet of earth and was wrapped in blankets and bound round with rope. It was supposed to be the body of an Indian. An inquest will be held tomorrow.

Gala Day at Lake Tahoe. Next Saturday will be a day of great excitement at Lake Tahoe. It is the day of a great yacht race between the sloop yachts Fannie and the Fleeter. Both boats are well known about the lake, and there is considerable difference of opinion as to their comparative sailing qualities.

It has been figured out that over 500 people visited Carson yesterday by rail to attend the Barnes animal show. In addition that many more arrived by auto, so it can be stated that over 1,000 visitors were present yesterday. This influx of people can be credited mainly to newspaper advertising done by Barnes management. Mr. Merchant, will you note this fact?
