RSVP fun fair set for Thursday-Sunday

A spring fun fair in Mills Park put on by Carson City-based Nevada Rural RSVP will begin on Thursday and run through next weekend.

The rural Retired Senior Volunteer Program, which serves much of the state, features a fun fair each spring with carnival rides and games for all ages at the park between Roop Street and Saliman Road along U.S. Highway 50/East William Street. Nevada Rural RSVP has held other similar fun fair events around Independence Day and in the autumn, also to raise funds.

This year’s spring fun fair celebration and carnival, along with the rides and games, will include foods and crafts from vendors, as well as beer or wine for sale on site to adults. Live music also is planned for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. All day carnival wristbands are $30 with a $5 discount coupon available, but there are additional deals.

“One parent rides all day for just $5 with a paid child’s wristband on Sunday, May 10th,” according to RSVP advance information. In addition, people may visit Carson City Toyota-Scion to purchase all day carnival wristbands, until Wednesday, for just $20. The wristband discount coupons, meanwhile, may be downloaded at www.nevadaruralrsvp.org or picked up at the RSVP office, 2621 Northgate Lane, Suite 6.

The Nevada Rural Counties Retired and Senior Volunteer Program’s mission is to help frail, home bound and low-income seniors remain independent by providing quality programs, which aids them in remaining in their homes. In addition, the rural RSVP program coordinates a volunteer network of seniors who use skills and talents to provide support to community agencies or, through service, address community needs.
