Irene A. Wilson, 91, a 53-year Carson City resident, died at Ormsby Post Acute Rehab. Irene was born in York, Nebraska to Ludwig G. and Augusta (Heiden) Rich. Irene was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had worked for many years as a key punch operator for the State of California in Sacramento before moving to Carson City where she was also a key punch operator for the State of Nevada for several years before retiring. She was a founding member of the Good Shepherd Wesleyan Church. She was also a member of the Eagle Valley Riders Equestrian Club. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Shugrue and her significant other, Santos Corral, grandson Ron & his wife Nicole, and great-grandchildren Anthony, Jackson, and Raelin, all of Carson City, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Loyde, of 68 years and her son, Ronald D. Wilson (the Ronald D. Wilson Park of Carson City is named in his honor). Her passion was horses and she spent many hours riding with Loyde in the wide open spaces in Nevada, as well as riding in numerous parades in California and Nevada as a “Matched Pair”. A viewing will be held from 3:30pm to 5:30pm Tuesday, May 5th, 2015 at Walton’s Chapel of the Valley. Chaplain Ruth Hanusa of Saint Mary’s Hospice will have a prayer service at 4:45pm. Walton’s Chapel of the Valley in Carson City is caring for the arrangements. Burial will be Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 1:00pm at Sierra Hills Memorial Park at 5757 Greenback Lane in Sacramento, California with a family and friends graveside memorial at 12:30 pm prior to burial.
