Lawmakers are considering a bill that would prevent homeowners associations from barring the Nevada state flag.
Republican Assemblyman Lynn Stewart is sponsoring AB301, which was discussed Tuesday in a Senate Judiciary Committee meeting.
A supporter from southern Nevada who spoke in favor of the bill said he was celebrating Nevada’s 150th birthday by flying a state flag at his home when his HOA issued a cease and desist notice.
He said the notice came even though the HOA allowed him to fly a Denver Broncos flag.
The bill would bring law on the state flag in line with law on the American flag.
The measure unanimously passed the Assembly in April.
