A “dangerous group” of young entrepreneurs received certificates Friday at a graduation ceremony held for the first New Entrepreneur Network class in Carson City.

Jeff Glass, executive director of the network, said he made his dangerous group comment because the 27 graduates recognized in Carson High School’s library are bound to shake things up.

Samantha Lowe, a class member and a senior at Carson High, spoke briefly as she introduced Mayor Robert Crowell and he made graduation remarks. Glass then handed out certificates as the mayor thanked each class member. Crowell in his talk said the graduates will help spur growth via their skills.

He urged the group to create a culture of entrepreneurship for wealth both in dollars and in Carson City’s quality of life. He said the class members represent the future of both the country and the community, a harbinger of great things to come in this state capital community.

“Carson City is going to be not only the capital of the state,” he predicted, ”it’s going to be the star of the whole western United States.”

Lowe, while introducing Crowell, said class members had become daily entrepreneurs. She said she and her colleagues will enter a competitive business world better able to handle it due to the course. “We’re so much more prepared for that because of this class,” she said. “Thank you very much for this club, this class and this lifestyle.”

The other 26 joining Lowe in receiving certificates, alphabetically, were listed as:

Pat Adolfo; Sara Baltisberger; Jose Conchas; Brittany Cuevas; Caela Diaz; Elena Guetti; Sam Haight; Daniel Jauregui; Ernesto Lamas; Wyatt Law; Raul Lopez; Fabiola Mata; Mathew Navarro; Carlos Enrique Nunez; Manuel Oceguerra; Jesus Rangel; Abraham Roque; Alexandria Rose; Antoinette Rose; Kayla Schneider; Shaylin Segura; Leslie Sepulveda; Wendy Soriano; Bet Nimra Torres; Sophia Waite, and James Wernett.

The New Entrepreneur Network is a program of and based at the Adams Hub, a downtown incubator of the Hop and Mae Adams Foundation, which works in conjunction with the Carson City School District, Western Nevada College and other community educational organizations such as the Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada.

Glass said this class was the pilot program to get the network off the ground. He said each graduate received a certificate of Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship, Level One, signed by him and the mayor.
