City National Bank names new group manager

City National Bank announced Lori Haney, a 32-year veteran of the banking industry, is its new Northern Nevada group manager for its Core Banking Group. Haney, who also serves as senior vice president and manager of City National Bank’s Carson City office, is taking on added responsibilities for the bank’s offices in Reno, Minden and Carson City.

Haney joined City National in 1999 through its predecessor, Business Bank of Nevada. During her tenure in banking, Haney has spent the majority of her career serving in the Carson City and Carson Valley areas. She will continue to report to John Wilcox, Nevada regional executive for City National, in her increased role as Northern Nevada group manager.

In her new role, Haney will work closely with the managers and staff of three banking offices in Northern Nevada. Kim Bartlett, manager of the Reno branch located at 5470 Kietzke Lane, and Jeri Johnson, manager of the Minden branch at 1647 Highway 395, will report to Haney. Ursula Prebezac, relationship manager for all three markets, will also report to Haney.

Haney will continue to network through various civic and trade organizations to generate new business opportunities and to promote City National. She will also continue to work closely with other areas of the bank, such as Commercial Banking Services and Private Client Services, to enhance existing relationships and develop new business opportunities.

Haney has worked for four banks including City National, Business Bank of Nevada, Pioneer Citizens Bank and First Interstate Bank where she began her banking career as a teller in 1983.

Haney graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno, where she earned a bachelor’s in accounting. She’s also a graduate of the Pacific Coast School of Banking in Seattle, Wash., and has earned a Certified Financial Planner designation.

Haney serves on a number of boards and as a volunteer for several nonprofit organizations. She currently serves on the board of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada, Rotary Club of Carson City Foundation, and Carson Tahoe LTAC. Haney is also a member of the Northern Nevada Development Authority, Rotary Club of Carson City, and Nevada Business Connections.

Greater Nevada Credit Union offering Apple Pay

Greater Nevada Credit Union members can now use Apple Pay with their GNCU debit cards to make payments at participating businesses who have contactless payment terminals. Greater Nevada is the first credit union headquartered in Nevada to offer this new payment option.

The free service allows members to use their iPhone or other compatible Apple device to pay for purchases without using their physical debit card or giving personal account information to a merchant or payment processor.

Account information is not stored on the Apple device, adding another layer of security if that device is stolen or lost.

To make a payment, members simply unlock their device with their fingerprint and hold it within a few inches of the payment terminal. Members can also use Apple Pay to make purchases at select sites online.

Carson City lawyer included on list of top attorneys

The National Academy of Family Law Attorneys recently published its list of nationally ranked family law attorneys, which included several Nevada lawyers, one in Carson City.

Ryan D. Russell of Carson City made the list, as well as Reno’s Kelli Anne Viloria, Kimberly Mae Surratt; Incline Village’s Stacey F. Herhusky; Henderson’s Rachel M. Jacobson; and Las Vegas’ Bradley Jon Hofland, Jeffrey S. Neeman, Rebecca L. Burton and Todd L. Moody.

The NAFLA recognizes the top family law attorneys in each state with the intent of helping consumers select well-qualified professionals when legal representation is needed.

Candidates must be licensed, in good standing with their local bar association and nominated by a licensed practicing attorney. In addition, attorneys must have achieved meaningful professional recognition and earned the respect of their clients and peers. In the final stage of the NAFLA’s 4 step selection process, the Board of Governors reviews the finalists and selects the official award recipients from each state. Jackpot Crossing Casino opens in Fernley

Jackpot Crossing Casino in Fernley opened its doors this month at 206 Logan Lane, at Exit 46 on Interstate 80 in Fernley. In doing so, 30 new jobs were added to Fernley’s economy, according to Scott Tate, general manager.

The casino is the third Fernley property for the casino group that also operates the Fernley Nugget, a smoke-free casino, and Wigwam Restaurant & Casino and others in Carson City, Minden, and Fallon.

Jackpot Crossing offers a lounge with multiple high-definition TV screens, 180 slot machines and a William Hill sports book.

A grand opening celebration is planned on Friday, June 5.
