Rosemary Elizabeth Nebesky

Rosemary Nebesky, a longtime resident of Carson City, passed on Saturday in California, surrounded by her loving family. Rosemary was born in Wagga Wagga, Australia on August 23, 1931. She went to the Conservatory of Music in Sydney, where her passion for classical music was nurtured. At age 21, she met Ladislav Nebesky, a Czech immigrant. The two married, and, after the birth of their first son, immigrated to San Francisco, where they had four more children. In 1968 the family moved to Carson City, where Rosemary’s initial job was at First National Bank. Thereafter, she took a position as a travel agent at Frontier Travel, and after, at Design Travel. At the age of 70, she opened La-Tea-Da, a tea shop, which she lovingly ran for several years. Rosemary was active in the community, serving as an usher at concerts, organizing a knitting group and also on the Board of Trustees for the Symphony. Her leisure time was spent bargain hunting at garage sales and thrift stores. She was an avid traveler, later settling in the historic district, where she spent her time tending her birds, and dachshund, Fritz. Rosemary is survived by five children; Mark Nebesky, Kim Edwards, Jenny Webley, Scott Nebesky and Gerard Nebesky, as well as 12 grandchildren. A memorial service for Rosemary will be held on Saturday, May 30th, at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City, from 1:00pm-4:00pm.
