Fred Wasilchuk passed away on May 21, 2015 in Gardnerville, NV, he was 87. Fred was born on March 16, 1928 in Hastings-On-Hudson, NY to Rose and George Wasilchuk. He attended Hastings High School and later served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He married Margaret Vano on August 1, 1953. After marriage the couple moved to Los Angeles, CA and later to South Lake Tahoe, CA where they raised their family and lived for 40 years before moving to their current home in Gardnerville, NV in 2000. Fred worked for Harvey’s Resort Hotel repairing slot machines from 1965 until he retired in 1990 as the Slot Repair Manager. An avid gardener, Fred also enjoyed bowling, fishing and golfing. He will be remembered for his dry humor and sharp wit by everyone who was lucky to know him. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Margaret, son Fredrick (Kimber), son Robert (Lori) and daughter Rosanne (Mike Bunker), 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren along with countless friends and family whom were blessed to know him. The family would like to thank Fred’s wonderful caregivers from Gentiva Hospice who shared their hearts and kindness with him; Christine, Denise, Natalie, Mary, Lana, Janelle and most especially his buddy Kaysha.
