Aug. 8, 1928 - May 1, 2015
Ralph Tyrrell Cline, born Aug. 8, 1928 to the late Frank Decatur Cline II and Elizabeth Christine Derickson in Perth Amboy, NJ, was the youngest of 5 children and left his earthly life peacefully on May 1, 2015 in Carson City, NV. Ralph had a keen interest and fascination for chemistry in his early youth and spent many hours in his basement laboratory performing various experiments. He graduated from Perth Amboy High School in 1946 and continued his education at Syracuse University earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1950 and a Master of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University in 1952. Ralph was the first in his family to have a college degree. He had a long and successful career in the refining and chemical industry and travelled to many parts of the world. In his later years, he was also employed by the EPA as an Environmental Engineer. He is survived by his five children: Scott Cline of Hall, NY, Roger Cline of Atlanta, GA, Gayle Voss of Marietta, GA, Susan Earnest of Dallas, TX, and Jacqueline Salmans of Coshocton, OH, from his marriage to the late Carolyn Ansley Cline, together with their respective spouses and eleven talented grandchildren. Several of his family members followed Ralph’s footsteps with degrees in Chemical or Petroleum Engineering. Ralph became a resident of Carson City in 2007 when he married Margaret Helen Saltzer, his former schoolmate from Kindergarten through High School graduation in Perth Amboy, NJ. Their love story started at the 60th High School Reunion. Ralph is deeply mourned by his wife, Margaret, who treasures their time together. He will also be missed by her five children. During Ralph’s lengthy illness, the family especially wishes to thank the Circle of Life Hospice, their staff, caregivers and volunteers for the exceptional caring and care Ralph received. Many and sincere thanks are also due to many other caregivers from Amy’s Eden Senior Care, The Lodge, and Home Instead, and to Friends to All for their Christmas visit and bountiful gifts. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to: Circle of Life Hospice, 1575 Delucchi Lane, Suite 214, Reno, NV 89502. Memorial Services/Celebration of Life services will be held at 1pm on May 29 at Walton’s Chapel of the Valley, 1281 N. Roop St., Carson City, followed by internment at Eastside Memorial Park, 1600 Buckeye Rd., Minden, NV.
