Nevada Appeal at 150: July 30, 1974: Changes coming to Carson dump

The ecological effect of the landfill on the birds and rodents who have fed on the refuse for so many years remains to be seen. Whereas in the past people dumped their garbage on any day at any time, the disposal area is now open only from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. An attendant is present to supervise and to direct dumping. It is probably by night and on Mondays and Wednesday that the wildlife population will feast without fear of human interference or of fire anymore.
