The last near-ground atmospheric test detonation at the Nevada Test Site, Little Feller I, was detonated in support of an army exercise which also involved the firing of conventional weapons.
The Atomic Energy Commission and the Defense Department, in a joint announcement, said about 900 troops of the 4th Infantry Division from Ft. Lewis, Wash., took place in “the realistic field maneuver.”
The exercise was conducted under supervision of the U.S. Continental Army command with headquarters at Ft. Monroe, Va.
