PigOut Catering, a mobile catering concept, intends to locate in Carson City.

The announcement Thursday came from the franchise operation that began in Canada and is locating in selected markets of the United States as well.

“We knew that we needed to move where there’s demand year-round,” said Anne Dickson, a co-founder of the firm, “and Carson City is the perfect place for us.”

She said outdoor activities, climate and demographics played a part in the decision.

PigOut currently has seven locations in Ontario, Canada, and has made other moves below the border, including in South Carolina.

In a news release, PigOut said it partners with event management and entertainment companies, as well as others, to provide fare at affairs for as few as 20 or much larger groups.

Other details of the move into Carson City weren’t yet disclosed, but PigOut does the catering from a large mobile facility that’s van-sized.

It’s kitchen-equipped with food prep capabilities, including walk-in refrigeration and an oversized roaster for a complete pig.
