The last two years, dental plans were offered along with medical plans on the Nevada and Federal Marketplace Exchanges.
While they are still being offered on the Federal Marketplace this year, the agents at Affordable Healthcare Pros are also offering plans off the exchange for 2016.
In the past, the dental plans had been tied to the medical plans and it became difficult to cancel a dental plan without also canceling the medical plan. To avoid that problem and give our clients a wider range of choices, we have contracted with plans off the exchange this year.
While you can still choose a plan on the exchange, you will also have a choice of other companies off the exchange.
The plans on the exchange are limited to $1,000 of coverage or less and basically tend to do little more than preventive dental.
The plans we have available this year, off the exchange, range from $500 a year in coverage up to $3000 in coverage. Some offer coverage right away, but tend to limit the percentage of coverage the first year. Vision plans are also offered — something the exchange does not offer.
We also have a plan that offers either $1,000 a year or $1,500 a year in dental coverage, in addition to $200 of vision coverage over two years and $500 of hearing coverage in the second year of the plan.
Another value of the plans we are offering this year is that you can enroll for coverage any time of the year — not just during Open Enrollment, which this year started Nov. 1 and ends Jan. 31, 2016.
