Nevada Appeal at 150: July 2, 1957: Parallel parking on Carson Street now in effect

Parallel parking on Carson St. has gone into effect.

Signs designating that this system of parking should be used, rather than diagonal parking, were put up today by the police department.

When construction of the street is completed, parallel parking will be necessary to allow for four lanes of traffic.

At present while most of the street is wide enough to allow diagonal parking, where construction is in progress, this system of parking impedes free flow of traffic, Marshal Lester Smith pointed out.

This continues the Appeal’s review of news stories and headlines during its Sesquicentennial year.
