The shooting of Dick Wheeler (continued from Thursday). We hear of no pursuit, but suppose it was made after the shooting became generally known. It is thought the villain has taken to the road to Arizona. Mob law is a bad thing, but if the citizens of that place can attest, Pat Birmingham, they should bring him to Poison Switch and see how high they can pull him by the neck (Lyon County Times).

Sen. Sharon has been indicted by the San Francisco Grand Jury for perjury, and Miss Hill for intimidating witnesses with her little pistol.

100 years ago

Rearranging his office. Gov. Boyle is changing his private office in the rear of his suite of rooms to the large room now used as a reception room. Mrs. Cohen, clerk and stenographer to the governor, will occupy the room vacated by the governor and will be made a reception room.

70 years ago

Fifth brother home from Army. First Lt. Robert Lee Tatom, Military Police, now stationed in San Antonio after years in Europe, is spending a few days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Tatom, 114 John Street. Lt. Tatom is one of five Carson City brothers, all of whom are serving in the Army.

The Kiwanis Club entry into the Miss Carson City contest is 17-year-old Delsye Leah Gallup, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hayden Gallup, 1784 Marion Ave. A banner carrier in the Carson High Band for two years, she has marched in the Rose Bowl Parade.

30 years ago

Within the last few months great emphasis has been put upon the proposed freeway in Carson City. Garth Dull, deputy director of the Department of Transportation, says it will be at least 15 years before the project is started.
