Local Pop Warner squad
honors Sparks player
Prior to Saturday’s game between Carson and Sparks, CCPW Pee Wee Senator Coach Austin Matthews led his team of players, coaches and parents across the field to present the Sparks squad with a pair of flags and arm bands. The arm bands had No. 99 on them. That was in honor of a 13-year-old Sparks player who sustained an injury when a bullet struck him in the head when he was playing a video game in his living room.

for kids today
If you’re looking for kids taking part in a variety of free activities like archery, bb gun range, casting to a target, rock climbing and other activities in the West parking lot, or learning how to tie flies in the fly shop, come out to the Nevada Area Council’s Cub Scout Adventure Day at Cabela’s, today from 4 to 7 p.m.
There will be all kinds of great photo and video opportunities of kids getting expert instruction on a variety of scout activities like knot tying, fire starting and other skills from council staff and volunteer scout leaders.
The entire front and West pad and parking lot will be filled with kids and families taking part in scout and outdoor activities. Last year we had more than 1,500 folks for the inaugural event.
