Eugene R. Collins, 85, died October 5th, 2015 at his home in the loving care of family. Born in Dilley TX, he moved many times before settling down in Carson City, NV. Eugene and wife Florence called Carson City home for over 25 years and enjoyed the love and comfort of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Gene retired from a long and fulfilling career in the rural electric industry providing utility services to communities from Georgia to Alaska. Prior to meeting his wife and “settling down”, he was drafted into the Armed Forces during the Korean war and obtained the rank of Sergeant before returning to civilian life. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband and father, often saying “The most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother.” Gene is survived by: Children - Nancy, Jean, Randy and daughter-in-law Carla; Grandchildren - Kevin Collins, Rachel Collins, Ken Young, Kami Powers and her husband Wes; Great Grandchildren - Wesley and Christian Powers. Gene was preceded in death by wife, Florence E. Collins, on February 22, 2015, who died at the age of 82. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, October 14th at 11:00am, at FitzHenry’s Funeral Home, 3945 Fairview Dr., Carson City NV.
