Mar. 06, 1923 - Aug. 28, 2015
Frances was an initially reluctant but ultimately enthusiastic resident of Carson City for the past 12 years - greatly enjoying her friends and family, picnics at Lake Tahoe, Blue Lakes and other beautiful local settings, traveling with her travel club or family, especially to San Francisco, Mendocino and Honolulu, volunteering time with service organizations such as Food for Thought and taking classes on the history of Nevada, Carson City and interesting topics at WNC with her friends. She and her husband of over 50 years, Lynn, moved to Carson City from Whidbey Island, Washington, where they enjoyed beach life for almost 25 years after retiring from the faculty of Oklahoma State University, where Frances was the Administrator of the Student Health Center. Prior to their time at the University, Frances enjoyed living in various areas of the United States with her husband while he worked for a national oil company until being recalled as a pilot in the U.S. Marine Corps for the duration of the Korean War. Frances greatly enjoyed spending time with her grand sons, Brad and Mark, as they were growing up and more recently, receiving frequent pictures of her three young great grand children. Frances also formed strong friendships throughout her life and derived great pleasure keeping those friendships alive writing letters and keeping in touch via telephone. She always looked forward to the holiday season when she received many cards and letters keeping her up with the “goings on” of all her family and friends. Frances was predeceased by her husband William Lynn Jackson in 2006 and her 3 younger sisters, Edna Keeney, Ann Wells and Marky Watkins. She is survived by her son Dr. William Lynn Jackson, Jr. and his wife Claudia, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and her daughter Brenda J. Erdoes and her husband Jeff, of Carson City, as well as her grandsons Brad and Mark Jackson and their families. A Celebration of Life will be held for Frances at the First Presbyterian Church on the corner of Division and Musser Streets in Carson City at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2015.
