Marian Sanderson Barnes

Marian Sanderson Barnes passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at St Mary’s Hospital. Marian was born in Tecumsen, Michigan to Leona Sweet Sanderson and Clifford A. Sanderson. Her family moved to Bridgewater, MI in 1943. Here she met her future husband in a one room school house. She graduated from Saline High School, Saline, MI in 1957. In high school she was very athletic and a four year Varsity Cheerleader. After high school she worked at various jobs as a secretary/ bookkeeper at one girl offices. In 1958 she married her high school sweetheart, Gordon Barnes. The next 5 years, vacations were spent fishing, hunting and hiking in various parts of the US and Canada. Her two sons Travis, (Loveland, CO) and Kurt (Fallon, NV) were born in Saline, MI in 1963 and 1966 respectively. Marian then became a Little League mom. After raising 2 successful boys, Marian devoted her time to bowling and community activities. Marian was a life member to the Lutheran Church. Her interests in gardening and sewing enabled her actively join the local gardening and sewing clubs. Marian is survived by Gordon, her husband of 57 years; sons, Travis (Paula); Kurt (Theresa); brother Charles Sanderson of Cheyenne, WY.; sisters, Shirley I. Piehl of Ypsilanti, MI; Ruth E. Myers (Ralph) of Chezsea, MI; granddaughter, Rose Maree Barnes of Loveland, CO. No funeral services per Marian’s request.
