The Nevada Day committee is hosting a photo shoot Saturday morning dubbed, “The big picture.”

“We want to show the last time the Nevada Day parade will be on a four-lane highway,” said Dana Lee Fruend, marketing director for Nevada Day. “Next year, it will be down to two.”

City leaders and other officials will gather at 8:30 a.m. beneath the Nevada Day banner. Fruend said all downtown business owners and influencers in the downtown remodel are invited to participate.

“The more the merrier,” she said.

Nevada Day’s official ambassadors, the Naughty Tea Mistresses, a theater troupe who portrays historical women of Nevada, will also be in the photo. They will also be greeting parade-goers along the route.

Fruend said the committee is wrapping up final details of the celebration of the state’s admittance to the union. There will be 69 vendors and 185 entries in the parade.

“We are actually ahead of schedule this year,” she said. “It’s a miracle.”
