Bee’s Whacks. A man in Scotland was killed by bees. He was working near a hive when the bees came out and settled on his head. A few minutes the unfortunate man was found lying on his face, quite dead.

Too much learning. Chinese do not subscribe to newspapers. Dr. Wau Kee used to take the Grass Valley Tidings and every afternoon he would call and get it from the editor, and they would have to read the paper and explain the contents to him. Dr. Wau Kee is now in the asylum for the insane at Stockton. Too much learning made him go mad.

Advertisement. “Carson Opera House — Oliver Morosco presents Mr. Harry Mestayes in Henry Isben’s, a Master piece ‘GHOSTS.’ The play has aroused more discussion on two continents than any other that was ever written. Prices — Dress circle $1, orchestra 75 cents, back seats 50 cents.”

Nevada Day. 25,000 people from all parts of Nevada and California drove their way through snowdrifts and heavy rainfall to attend Nevada’s 81st birthday in Carson City. The parade was led by a mounted color guard and was closely followed by Gov. Vail Pittman, Lt.-Col. Norman Brown, Maj. J. E. Lynch, Maj. Fraser ... Bands from Douglas and Carson high schools, Stewart Indian School and Churchill High School were in attendance.

Cape Canaveral. Researchers in orbit pushed ahead with laboratory experiments aboard the space shuttle Columbia. The 16-day mission is due to end at Kennedy Space Center.
