Advertisement. “Wright & Grant, North side of Plaza, Carson City, Nev. Undertakers and contractors have removed to the old shop formerly occupied by Smith & Wright, on the north side of the Plaza. They have charge of the city cemetery, lately located on the north extension of Carson Street; also of Lone Mountain Cemetery, and will attend to all orders promptly. Coffins, sash doors and windows, constantly on hand. They are prepared to do all kinds of work in their line in the very best style and at the most reasonable rates.”

All sorts. The other day Superintendent Clarke of Voltaire swapped horses with a stranger. He has discovered that the last horse he got was stolen. He and the sheriff of Amador are looking for the thief.

110 Years Ago

Out again. George Meyers was able to be on the street again. He has a hard wrestle with rheumatism. George looks a little the worse for wear and tear, but his many friends hope that he will have his walking stick over the fence in a day or so and join in the tug of war.

70 Years Ago

Schools open. Schools open with a total of 551 students. First grade — Miss Ruby White and Mrs. Lucile White, 50 children; second grade — Miss Dorothy Savage and Mrs. Grace Nauman, 50 children; third grade, Miss Mabel Horan, 45 children; fourth grade — Mrs. Anna Hersey, 55; fifth grade — Miss Virginia Swift, 55; sixth grade — Mrs. Mary Alice West, 42; seventh grade — Mrs. Margaret Dilts, 34; eighth grade — Miss Martha Gleason, 36.

50 Years Ago

Photo caption. Alpha Rho Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi, held a hillbilly party for sorority. Guests were entertained by a program of skits and the active members told a story about themselves.
